Farewells and welcomes
It is with sadness we farewell two of our children who both started at Tahuna School as 5 year olds Jack S and Katie. Both children have been positive contributors to our school over many years. We wish your families all the best with your farm move and the children settling into their new schools. We would like to welcome Dylan, Kaycee and their family into our Tahuna school community. You both have made a fantastic start at Tahuna School.
Board of Trustees news
Gavin Austin has tendered his resignation as a member of our school board. A big thankyou to Gavin for his strong contribution to Tahuna School, your work on finances, recent teacher appointments and grounds are just to name a few.
We would like to welcome Laura Van Hellemond who has been co-opted onto our school board until the 3 yearly board elections later on this year.
Fun Sports Day
Congratulations to all the children who represented Tahuna at the annual Morrinsville Netball and Rugby fun day. It was great to hear all the news about this great event from all the children and to hear that they made Tahuna proud through their fair play attitude. A special thanks to Sheree Austin and Stacey Williams, our team managers, and all our parents who gave their time to transport and support our children on the day.
A great day where our children could enjoy netball, rugby and learn new skills.
Pukemokemoke Trip
On Wednesday the 1st June Endurance and Endeavour classes are going for a trip to Pukemokemoke Bush Reserve. We are learning about our local history and environmental conservation. Thanks to the parents who are able to help with transport and supervision it is much appreciated.
World Book Day – dress up day
On Friday the 3rd June we are supporting our key focuses of participating and belonging, and encouraging reading for enjoyment by celebrating World Book Day. We will have a dress up day where children can dress in their favourite book character or a character they would like to come in. Each child who comes in theme will earn a house point for their house and four children who have come in theme will be chosen (one from each class) to go with Mr Otto to town to select a book for their classroom.
We look forward to this event and we can’t wait to see our children getting involved and supporting enjoyment for reading.
Cross-Country
Our children have been training in their classrooms on our training course. It is awesome seeing our children giving it a go and building up their fitness levels.
