Newsletter Week 6, Term 4

Principal Message
Kia ora Tahuna families

I can’t believe we are already towards the end of week 6 and it’s been so wet and windy. Despite the rocky weather, lots of learning and assessing has happened in our classrooms. Assessing at this time of the year is very important as it means our teachers can have the most recent up to date progress results for each child and this data is used to report back to parents via the end of year report.

Blue sneaker day
Week 5 – Friday 18th November – On Friday we dressed up in blue and wore our favourite sneakers, and gave a gold coin donation to show awareness for Diabetes NZ. It was a fun event organised by our student councillors. Anna Austin shared an informative speech about how it feels living with diabetes. It was awesome Anna! We raised $77 to this worthy cause and we would like to thank everybody for your support.

Inter-school Athletics
What a fitting way to end the athletics season with the inter-schools athletics day held at Morrinsville College. Tahuna athletes gave it their all and have made Tahuna School proud placing in the top 6 in many events and demonstrating good sportsmanship and resilience! Thank you to all the parents who came to support our school team and for helping out with officiating at some events. Without your support days like today would not run as smoothly.

FOS BBQ Fundraiser
We welcomed back the popular BBQ sausage sizzle last Friday. Thanks to Sarah McNamara and Sharrn Lehmann for cooking and serving the sausages, they were yummy! We look forward to the sausage sizzle today and thank you to Laura Van Hellemond and Sally Moore for cooking the sausages.

Congratulations
Congratulations to all children who have recently received an ICARES values card. It is amazing to see our ICARES values in action and it gives us a great sense of pride that we are living our school values. Also well done to many of our seniors showing good role modeling for our children.
