Newsletter Week 2, Term 4
Kia ora Tahuna families,
Welcome back to Term 4 and we are already well into our learning programmes and two of our traditional rural events have been completed.
Last Friday we had our annual Livestock Day held at the Tahuna Domain. We had 35 children enter in the event. 20 calves and 15 lambs. Congratulations to all our children who took part and well done to those children who won trophies and ribbons. I would like to thank Leasa Craw for her organisation and dedication to ensure our Livestock Day was a huge success! I would like to thank everybody who helped and supported their child/children with their animals. Also a thank you to the judges, stewards, recorders, helpers with setting up and packing down, and the sponsors – Lehmann Building Ltd, ASB, Briscos water pump services, FMG insurance, Morrinsville Decor, Neems Logging, and Farm source.
I would like to welcome Kimberley Slooten to our staff and community as our new part-time Learning Assistant.
Amazing Race
Wow! A fantastic result for our Yr 5 and 6 team at the Amazing Race. Our team came 2nd out of 72 teams and our other team did very well. The event took place at the Gallaghers Centre in Hamilton. The event was filled with many different team challengers. The efforts and support shown by our teams is a reflection of our wonderful children who can work successfully together through problem-solving and teamwork. We would like to thank our parents who provided transport and encouragement at the event.
Group Day
On Thursday we had 11 children enter Group Day with their animals. 9 calves and 2 lambs. This day had 104 calf, 7 kid and 37 lamb entries in total. It’s a good learning day where children learn resilience (the ability to cope mentally and emotionally) when things don’t go to plan or they leave the ring with no ribbon to show, despite all their hard work. Lots of learning was had but overall our Tahuna children did amazing! Below are the results from the day!
As always thanks to all the parents who encouragers, supported and motivated their children to participate in our Livestock Days this year. Good luck to Lewis, Xavier, Abagail, Marley and Logan who are competing at the Waikato Show today.
Ka mau te wehi – fantastic! Awesome!
