Newsletter Week 10, Term 1
Another great week of learning and I can’t believe we are nearing the end of term 1. I have had the pleasure of walking through our classrooms and I am super proud of all our children with their friendly, supportive and focus to be good team players. I appreciate the huge support from our parents of our school netball programme and I am looking forward to seeing Tahuna School represented proudly at the Morrinsville netball courts.
We would like to wish Alana Oldham a great day on Saturday as she is getting married!
Classrooms Term 2
Endeavour – Alana Oldham (Mon, Tues, Weds and Fri) Nicole Coombe (Thurs)
Endurance – Phoebe I’Anson (Mon, Weds, Thurs and Fri) Louise Drummond (Tues)
Maungaturoto – Eric Karshagen
Discovery – Gill Constantine
As you are aware Gill is our wonderful reliable release teacher and she has taken on Discovery room for Term 2 while we are advertising and recruiting an amazing teacher for this room. We have employed two fantastic release teachers. Louise Drummond will be the release beginning teacher for Phoebe and Nicole Coombe will be the DP release teacher for Alana. Both come highly recommended and we look forward to them joining our team.
Biathlon – House Competition
As part of our ‘Participating and Belonging’ focus for term 1 we will be having a fun wheels and running event next week. Mr K and our student councilors are organising the event and we look forward to kicking off our house competition.
EPRO 8 Challenge
This week Discovery room has had the opportunity to do the EPRO 8 Challenge. EPRO 8 Challenge has a science and engineering focus where children work in groups to problem solve a task. Our children worked well together and this is what some children had to say.
“EPRO 8 is a challenging engineering activity for the class to participate in. Here are some things we felt about EPRO 8.
EPRO 8 was challenging because we had to follow criteria and build it at the same time”
By Katie
“EPRO 8 is an activity where you are meant to work together which I think we completed” By Jade
“I think EPRO 8 definitely helps with teamwork and engineering skills” By Tayla
