Covid Health Measures at Traffic Light Red
Again I would like to give a big thankyou to our Tahuna families supporting our health measures to ensure we are safe and learning continues at school.
Important
- Please let us know immediately if you, your whanau or your child are identified as a positive case or a close contact
- Please keep your child at home if they are displaying flu like symptoms
- We encourage all visitors to wear masks
- If there is a confirmed case in school, I will contact the regional director of Education and Ministry of Health for guidance
- Please report to the office when dropping off or picking up your child during the school day.
- If a parent or visitor needs to pick up their child during the school day, A staff member will go to the classroom and collect the child for the parent or visitor.
ICARE Values Award Cards
It has been amazing seeing many of our children displaying our school values both in the classroom and out in our playground. The acts of kindness and including others in games makes me very proud!
Student Councillors
I must congratulate all our children who put their hand up and gave a speech last week to be in the running for student councillor. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the following children who were selected as our student councillors for 2022: Micah, Tayla, Lucy, Xavier, Sophie L, Antalya, Jade and Caitlin.
Our student councillors are already hard at work and have created some new initiatives to support our children. Our councillors will be giving out ICARE Values cards during break times for children they see showing our values and they have set up a buddy seat system to support any child who needs support out in our playground. Also our leaders will continue to organise and run our school assemblies.
House Leaders and House Deputies
Our next house leaders and house deputies have been selected by their house members. It was wonderful to see all the children who got up and delivered their speech to their house. I would like to congratulate our leaders

Epro 8 starter Kit
I would like to say a big thank you to Kirsty Hannah and her family for donating a Epro 8 starter kit for our senior room. The enjoyment and learning problem solving skills from this resource will be fantastic.
TOD
Just a reminder we have a teacher only day on Friday the 18th March. School teaching staff are awarded 8 teacher only days as part of the Collective Agreement Accord for workload and or professional development. This TOD we will be working with our PLD facilitator Tabitha Leonard on our localised curriculum. These days need to be completed by July 2022.
Sponsor our school
We have been very fortunate to have many of our existing sponsors continuing to show great support and we have had new sponsors join us this year. We would like to welcome Mike Fraser Jones of Bayley’s Real Estate aboard with us this year. We have just recently filled the last spot in our newsletter. However, if you would like to sponsor our school we can find space. Also we have spaces in our community newsletter that goes out once per term. If you are interested please contact the school office.
Ngaa mihi
Phillip and Staff
